Glenn Beck and I
The true story of how our paths crossed several years ago.
In the year 2000, Glenn Beck debuted The Glenn Beck Program in Tampa, Florida. At the same time and in roughly the same place, I was running a moderately unsuccessful website which lampooned local sports teams through satire. Think The Onion for sports.
I knew the guy who did Glenn’s website. He was a fan of my site and donated webspace to me for whatever it is that I do. Now, I didn’t know who Glenn Beck was back then. Perhaps nobody did. All I know is that one day my right-wing web-designer friend sent me an mp3 file of Mr. Glenn Beck reading a portion of one of my articles live on the air.
Let me repeat that: Glenn Beck read something I wrote on his radio program about nine years ago.
Apparently my buddy had printed out some articles from my site and Glenn picked one out to read on-air. Pretty cool, hearing something you wrote in this context. I mean, it would have been nice if he gave me credit or mentioned the website or something. But that’s not important now. Fucking asshole, I should sue.
After a completely non-exhaustive search, I’ve dug up the audio of this moment of radio history which is available above.
