Has anyone actually watched the video? Can you believe how flagrantly Robert Zelnick evades; attempts to mislead viewers?
I’ve been wanting to say something about this, but I wasn’t sure if my cynicism on the matter stemmed from the fact that my head is still pounding from an abundance of brown ale or if I actually have a cogent point. But then I realized, this is a blog. Either will do:
In this American life, with War being the business it is — from the amount of money we pour into the machine’s gaping maw, to the fact that we clearly and obviously engage in war when it is not remotely necessary — of course the Pentagon is going to take any measure necessary to gain the modicum of support required by its citizenry to launch a preemptive attack on another nation.
We were going to do Iraq II no matter what. Ultimately, controlling the news media might have been the most important factor in the entire enterprise. When you have such a hollow case to have to turn thousands and thousands of people into collateral damage, you can’t just leave it to chance that we’ll all step in line.
It’s sad that I completely accept this, but there it is. America was over a long, long time ago. That’s not to say this news coming out now isn’t bleak. It’s important, and observing what the rest of the mainstream media says about it may be even more important than the news itself. Let’s not hold our breath for any apologies though.
We’re still in the desert, and we’ll still get fooled again. Why we put up with it remains a mystery to me.
PS — Indeed, Bob Zelnick is an asshole. Although as the Pentagon plant he might very well be, he’s doing a damn fine job.
